Planning permission has been granted for the construction of an additional storey to an existing Grade II listed office building on Old Street in central London.
The existing building has a rare surviving example of a Victorian decorative cast iron façade. The proposal includes the reinstatement of the original red and cream colour scheme for the cast iron work. The additional storey has been carefully designed to be distinct from, yet complement the existing building. A pressed metal façade creates a series of vertical bays, separated by projecting fins, echoing the window divisions and decorative metal work on the existing building without replicating it.
