Geoff Beardsley & Partners were appointed by the client to submit a planning application for new private preparatory school within a grade two listed building and the surrounding grounds.
The practice provided a proposal to provide the school’s space requirement over the fully refurbished the existing property and a new purpose built, two storey building containing three classrooms, a kitchen, toilets and a large multi functional hall.
Geoff Beardsley & Partners had previously achieved planning permission for an new office building on the site for the previous owner. Therefore the size and form of this new ancillary building to the school had been established. During the recent discussions with conversation officer, they indicated that contemporary building would be suitable in this location, therefore to maximise the views of the grounds, we proposed large areas of glazing to the hall within a modern designed building.
