Mill Place is a block of nine flats with associated car parking and an office unit. Geoff Beardsley and Partners were appointed by the client to produce scheme drawings and obtain planning permission for the redevelopment of a vacant office building. Although the site may have allowed for more dwellings, the client was keen that the proposal should only be for nine flats, below the threshold in which affordable housing criteria would come in to effect. There was sufficient space to provide car parking and the office unit at ground level, with the residential accommodation above. The application was approved at appeal and the client proceeded with the construction of the scheme and subsequently appointed Geoff Beardsley & Partners post planning for the full architecture service via a traditional procurement route.
